Catering Supervisor and Head Chef (Aged Care)
Tell us about your role.

I am Catering Supervisor - Head Chef and Supervisor of a busy Aged Care Kitchen and Serveries. I have a team of 6 I directly supervise and then another 2 in serveries that I also have to oversee. I carry out menu planning, creating duty sheets, ordering of supplies and dealing directly with suppliers, dietary assessments and the best practice for implementing any changes that are necessary.

What is 1-1 coaching like?

Karina was absolutely wonderful she explained everything in terms that I could understand and always asked what would I do. That alone made me really consider all my actions and really think about my answers. I have taken so much away from my coaching sessions with Karina and am sad that it had to end. The skills and knowledge that she shared are going to greatly improve my career and those of my colleagues and I could not be more grateful with the coaching I was given.

What did you get out of the program?

I have learnt how better to lead my team. How to really listen and to not be afraid to make the tough decisions. I have learnt to delegate and prioritise my daily tasks and to take time out for myself. I am happier and more comfortable in my role then I have ever been and I know it is because of the tools that I learnt from my coaching.

What advice would you give to someone starting out with coaching?

Make sure you do your homework, listen and take on board the advice from your coach. Go into it with an open mind and be ready to be amazed.
