I am the Village Manager of a large remote workforce accommodation village. As the village manager I liaise with clients, oversee all operations of the village and work closely with heads of department managing housekeeping, maintenance, catering, reservations and retail outlets. Being a remote location, one of the key challenges of the role is keeping staff engaged, motivated and happy. The skills I have learnt over the past 18 months has helped me achieve this.
Having one-to-one coaching has been instrumental to my success. Being able to discuss challenges with my coach and learn tools to overcome them has been so much more valuable than "generic" training that I've done in the past.
I have learnt to understand how myself and others work together and steps to take to improve these relationships. This has allowed me to progress within my company and be promoted.
