I work in the Operational Excellence / Operational Capability team under the COO organisation. While I do not have any direct reports, I often lead small teams of SMEs to get a handle on the needs of our consulting and business development organisations and deliver content to empower them.
One-to-one coaching was fantastic. It was much simpler and easier than other development that I've done. My coach was both friendly and easy to talk to while being very direct and professional. I felt comfortable discussing my career and challenges with him, and found lots of value in the insights he provided through his coaching.
The coaching program has made me a better leader. I feel better equipped to handle complex situations with personnel around our organization at all levels. Discussions about my current role and the steps I can take to evolve and grow as a leader have left me feeling confident and capable.
Don't hold back! Be honest with your coach and leverage their experience as best you can. Listen to their advice, but don't be afraid to question it. The more you give, the more you get back.
