Tell us about your role.

I am a Marketing Coordinator, managing a team of 9 staff including graphic designers, digital designers and officers. We work as an internal marketing agency, servicing 19 departments in a local government organisation. Aside from staff management, I coordinate a number of City projects including market research, publication management, radio and outdoor advertising contracts.

What is 1-1 coaching like?

I found the coaching a fantastic experience. I haven't had the benefit of this style of coaching in the past and found it an incredible learning opportunity. The flexibility of the program to allow the participant to direct the flow of discussion and key points made it extremely worthwhile.

What did you get out of the program?

It allowed me the time to step back from day-to-day pressures and take time out to assess my environment, my priorities and to discuss challenges and successes with an impartial third party. I would often go into a session not really knowing what to talk about. Robyn would ask a few leading questions which gave me the clarity to talk through the most pressing areas of my role at that time and come to conclusions together.

What advice would you give to someone starting out with coaching?

Enter with an open mind. The great advantage of this program is that you lead it where you need to go. The assessments were a great starting point, but over time these can change and this incredibly flexible program allows for that. Also, be honest. You need to 'bare-all' to ensure you get the most from each session.
